The team
Jack Kalb, CA, CPA
Jack is a people person, and not just in the sense that he loves to meet new people. He's a people person in the sense of having a knack for networking and helping accountants level up in their career. After graduating from the Ivey Business School at Western University, and completing the CPA program, he discovered his passion for meeting like-minded, driven young professionals. While working at EY, he was selected to work on the Campus Recruitment Team, and his fate was sealed. He discovered a passion for helping young professional carve a path to success.
Jack continued working in audit at EY but his passion remained in recruiting and began applying for positions as his next step. Fortunately, through networking, Jack was introduced to Steve and for the next several years they built the largest public accounting recruitment practice in Canada.
When he’s not helping accountants get ahead, Jack enjoys exploring Toronto's food scene with his wife, Jill. When he isn't travelling or dining out, you might find him playing fantasy football.

Stephen Lecker
Steve has an uncanny ability for recruitment stemming back to his early working life - where he not only realised his talent for recruiting, but realised how much he truly enjoyed it.
After several years of internal recruiting, Steve made the switch to the agency side where he specialized for a short time in sales recruitment and overtime his focus became accounting and finance.
Fast forward to 2012, Steve purchased the London Group and for the following four years built it to become a key player in the public accounting recruitment industry, servicing multiple public accounting firms and industry positions, in every accounting and finance role. After merging London Group with a larger recruitment agency, Steve became a Partner and built his practice over the next several years.
Then in 2022, Steve set out to develop Minted Search Group, Canada's go to public accounting recruitment firm - and here we are. When Steve isn't busy recruiting, you'll find him spending quality time with his wife, daughters & dog, or unleashing creativity in the studio as a budding abstract artist.

Bram Diamond
Meet Bram, the latest recruiter (and trivia buff) to join the Minted Search Group team. He is a true people person with a passion for helping others, and his ability to connect with people make him a valuable asset to our team.
Before graduating from Western University with a degree in Media, Information, and Technoculture, Bram was involved running summer camps where he discovered his passion for helping people find their way and create new and positive experiences.
And so Bram decided to take his love for helping others find new opportunities and begin a career in recruitment.

When he's not connecting talented accountants with new roles, you can catch him cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Lions, or absolutely smashing GeoGuesser.
Hayley Cook
Hayley’s recruitment journey began in high-volume recruitment position with Manpower, where she quickly discovered her passion for helping people transform their lives—it's incredibly rewarding!
Growing up in the suburb of Georgetown, where she spent 12 years perfecting her hockey skills - those years on the ice didn’t just make her a passionate player; they honed her competitive spirit, teamwork skills, and communication which she now brings to the recruitment field.
With 5 years of experience at one of the largest staffing agencies, Hayley has navigated various industries, from accounting & finance to IT and everything in between. When she’s not matching talent with opportunities - she is a big Maple Leafs fan (hoping for that Stanley cup win soon), indulging in reality TV, or exploring new travel destinations.

Our Story

2010
After a few years of recruiting as a component of his job, Steve takes the plunge and moves into full time agency recruitment with one of Canada’s top Sales Recruitment firms... while Jack takes his first accounting class in grade 11. -
2011
Steve moves to London Search Group specializing in sales, HR and accounting and finance recruitment, and starts to slowly develop a niche public accounting recruitment practice. Jack is accepted into Western University as part of the Ivey Business School Early Acceptance Program. -
2013
As Jack begins his Honours in Business Administration at Ivey, Steve purchases London Search Group and continues to grow his client base in the public accounting space - which (spoiler alert) ends up flourishing into long term relationships with several mid sized firms.

2014
Jack begins his career Public Accounting, completing an Internship at EY, and is hired on full time as a Staff Accountant the following year. Steve continues to recruit for several public accounting firms and starts to get Industry referrals and begins to add accounting department roles to the mix. -
2016
After 4 years of working on his own, Steve merges London Search Group with a larger full-service firm. He continues to grow his business, along with managing a small team, recruiting in all areas of accounting and finance. Jack continues his career at EY, writes the CFE, and in 2017 is promoted to Senior Accountant. Along with his audit work, Jack helps EY with their campus recruitment efforts. The opportunity to work in Campus Recruitment was a pivotal experience, shifting Jack’s career trajectory towards a move into recruiting. -
2018
After meeting, Steve and Jack become fast friends. Steve hires Jack on the spot, and revenue increases immediately because of his skillset. Thanks to their collaborative effort, in just one year, revenues increased by 260%.
Looks like it was a good move, right?

2020
With the help of a small team, the guys continue to grow their recruitment practice to a client base of over 30 Public Accounting firms nationally. In addition, their industry staffing practice developed further and included working with companies in Real Estate, Manufacturing, CPG and Professional Services.

2022
Steve & Jack have been in the recruitment game for a while, and have learned a lot along the way.
They wanted to always put the candidate first, creating a solid connection and deep understanding of their needs and goals. They envisioned themselves sharing their wealth of knowledge with clients & candidates and becoming Canadas go-to resource for all things public accounting and industry recruitment.
And so they took a leap of faith, and Minted Search Group was born.

2024 was a milestone year for Minted Search Group, marked by strong performance and the official expansion into the U.S. market. With growing demand on both sides of the border, the team welcomed several experienced recruiters to support even more professionals in finding the right roles and to help employers build high-performing, well-aligned teams.

With continued growth and trusted client partnerships, Minted Search Group broadened its reach beyond accounting and finance, officially expanding into legal, administration, and operations recruitment.
